White River Co-op Employees Win State Awards
CountryMark – an Indiana-based, farmer-owned cooperative – recently presented its annual Achievement Awards. Mike Riggins of White River Co-op was named the Energy Department Manager of the Year. Greg Porter also of White River Co-op was honored as the Energy Support Representative of the Year.
Riggins was nominated for his award by White River Co-op General Manager Dave Milligan and CountryMark Business Development Manager Bill Ryle. Riggins and his family reside in Odon, Ind.
“Mike Riggins has always been dedicated to his company, his customers and his fellow employees. He is always there working side-by-side with people in every project he initiates. He demonstrates leadership and doesn’t ask for anything he isn’t willing to do as well. He is an excellent role model and is respected by all his teammates,” said Milligan.
Ryle added that Riggins is always excited about new ideas and ways to grow the business or better serve the customer, and works diligently to make sure his people are all on the same page.
The impact Riggins has made within the communities he serves was also noted by CountryMark Vice President of Marketing Jon Lantz.
“This past June, Mike initiated a highly successful fundraiser to support the families of local the National Guard,” said Lantz. “The public was invited to come and fill up with fuel. For every gallon pumped, money was donated to the National Guard’s family program. Mike knew his community well and just as he expected, they came out in force to support the men and women who defend our country every day. It was a privilege for us at CountryMark to join Mike on this fundraiser.”
Despite challenging global economic conditions this past, the White River Co-op Energy Department, under Riggins’ leadership, increased fuels sales by 11 percent.
“That’s a tremendous accomplishment and a mark of great leadership,” Lantz added.
White River Co-op was also the recipient of a second CountryMark award this year. Greg Porter of Washington, Ind.; brought home CountryMark’s Energy Support Representative of the Year award. According to White River Co-op Petroleum Department Manager Mike Riggins, Porter is an indispensable team member for his co-op.
“Greg has a can-do attitude,” says Riggins. “Getting customer tanks set, making pump repairs, delivering tanks to job sites, managing fuel quality and routine maintenance at bulk plants, and making sure timely and accurate inventories are taken are just a few of the jobs Greg takes care of with a 24/7 approach,” said Riggins.
Bill Ryle of CountryMark added that Porter takes great pride in his role to help his energy team and his co-op to get the job done for each and every customer.
“Whatever assignments get thrown at this guy, you know the job will be completed and done to perfection,” said White River Co-op General Manager Dave Milligan. “We’re thrilled that both Mike and Greg were recognized as award winners.”
White River Co-op provides tankwagon and transport delivery of CountryMark fuels to customers in Monroe, Lawrence, Martin, Daviess and Owen counties. This farmer-owned cooperative also owns and operates CountryMark fueling sites in Loogootee, Plainville and Mitchell, Indiana.
The CountryMark annual awards banquet is designed to recognize the best professionals within the local farmer-owned cooperatives that deliver CountryMark branded fuels.
